This tutorial discusses preloaders in Flash 5 and teaches the implementation of a percentage pre loader in a phased manner. A preloader is a buffering mechanism that allows loading of some content before beginning to play the flash file. This ensures smooth streaming and correct timing. A percentage preloader indicates the loaded and remaining bytes and percentages. The code is explained in detail and very little knowledge is assumed in the tutorial.
